Project Mafia is a ReactJS and Agora.io RTC, deployed on AWS, based online mafia game experience with over 1000 monthly users. A friend and I wanted to build something that we knew would be used by users and due to the pandemic we felt like there was a lack of human-to-human connection. Based on these premises, we wanted to bring the social deduction game online as we were never really satisfied with existing solutions (lack of video, bad UX, very complex UI, ...).
Fun Fact: We wanted avoid the costs of running a backend and used the RTM service to simulate a web socket. This took a lot of time and debugging due to timing issues! Always staying hack-y.
